Linoprint

Block printing has always been one of my favourite techniques. I didn’t do art for my junior cert, so my first introduction was in Ballyfermot during my portfolio course, I carved the cover of Sonic Youth’s album Goo by artist Raymond Pettibon, into mdf. Since then soft cut lino has become available, which makes the process faster, less painful and much more enjoyable. Recently I’ve started to use linocuts a lot more to add texture to my work. Here’s a linocut I made of my granny Emily, I printed one for each of her 11 children. When I was in the hospital having my kids, I thought about her a lot!
